Transparency is part of our corporate philosophy. That's why we're happy to explain the basic ingredients of our Löwenzahn Organics Follow-on Milk Formula. Our range includes follow-on milk formulas based on cow's milk and goat's milk – one variety based on skimmed milk powder and two based on whole milk powder.

Age-appropriate Milk Proteins

Skimmed milk powder and whole milk powder contain important milk proteins for your baby. The protein content of our follow-on milk formula is up to 1.5 grams per 100 milliliters. In our Löwenzahn Organics Follow-on Baby Milk, the ratio of casein to whey protein adapts to the age-related needs of babies. In our follow-on milk, the whey protein to casein ratio is 50:50, and in our children's milk, it is 30:70. An exception is our goat's milk-based follow-on baby milk. It contains the naturally occurring whey protein:casein ratio of 20:80 in goat's milk.

Lactose for readily available energy

Lactose is the main carbohydrate source in our Löwenzahn Organics Pre Formula. Its simple structure allows babies to quickly convert lactose into energy.

Vitamins and minerals for important metabolic functions

Vitamins and minerals are also included in our Löwenzahn Organics Follow-on Milk Formula. For example, Vitamin D supports the function of the immune system, and Calcium supports the growth and bone development of children (Vitamin D is legally required for follow-on formula).
The human body cannot produce minerals at all, and some vitamins not in sufficient quantities. That's why it is so important to add vitamins and minerals to follow-on baby milk.

Omega 3 fatty acid (DHA) and Omega 6 fatty acid (ARA) in follow-on baby milk

DHA and ARA are included in our follow-on baby milk in a 1:1 ratio. We have opted for a 1:1 mix and thus add more ingredients than required by the EU. According to EU standards, DHA is mandatory, but the addition of ARA is voluntary.

DHA from algae oil instead of fish oil

Good to know: We use algae oil as a source of DHA in our Löwenzahn Organics milk formula. The use of fish oil as a source of omega-3 fatty acids like DHA is widespread in the food industry. By extracting DHA from cultivated marine algae, we avoid the allergen that would otherwise be present in baby milk powder, and at the same time contribute to the preservation of marine ecosystems by not contributing to overfishing. Furthermore, the fishy smell and taste that would otherwise be present in baby milk are avoided. One reason why our Löwenzahn Organics baby milk tastes so good. 

All our Löwenzahn Organics follow-on and children's follow-on baby milk powders contain all the important nutrients your baby needs for optimal development in the first 1,000 days. Our cow's milk-based baby milk from skimmed milk powder and whole milk powder, as well as our goat's milk-based baby milk from whole milk powder, each have several advantages. 

Whole milk powder contains all important fats for energy

Fat is and remains an important source of energy. Whole milk powder in follow-on baby milk has an advantage over skimmed milk powder in follow-on baby milk in terms of fat content. While milk's own fats are reduced in skimmed milk, whole milk powder still contains all fats. Thus, follow-on baby milk based on whole milk powder is less highly processed. However, whole milk powder is more expensive than skimmed milk powder. 

Addition of vegetable oils in follow-on baby milk from skimmed milk powder for more energy

Fat is an important source of energy. Since most of the fat is removed from skimmed milk powder, we have added valuable vegetable oils to our cow's milk-based follow-on baby milk. Selected sunflower, rapeseed, and oil palm were chosen as sources for vegetable oils. We exclusively use organic palm oil from certified sustainable cultivation. 

Palm oil-free - Baby milk from whole milk powder

Due to the fat content of whole milk, less additional vegetable oils are needed in cow's milk-based and goat's milk-based baby milk made from whole milk powder. Only sunflower and rapeseed oils are added. No highly processed vegetable oils such as palm oil need to be supplemented. 

Easily digestible - Follow-on baby milk based on goat's milk from whole milk powder

Proteins and fat in follow-on baby milk based on whole goat's milk powder are structured differently compared to those in cow's milk. For example, goat's milk contains smaller "fat globules" that are easier for babies with sensitive stomachs to digest.

The recipes for our follow-on and children's follow-on baby milk are based on current scientific findings. Our cow's milk-based follow-on baby milk from whole milk additionally contains the prebiotic fiber organic FOS, the amino acid taurine, and nucleotides (building blocks of DNA).
