Sure, a beautiful bouquet of flowers immediately puts you in a good mood and beautiful gifts for mom when she gives birth can be very individual. But if we're honest, nobody needs the twentieth bodysuit with cute animals, and even the bouquet of flowers will eventually wilt and have to be thrown away. Moms need love and peace, support with the things that don't work yet and every now and then the reassurance that it's absolutely okay to just let everything rest except the baby. This can be really difficult!
But if it should also be a physical gift to make the new mother happy and to celebrate her new life, then that can also be practical! We asked around the Löwenzahn Organics team and gathered: These are the things you really need during the postpartum period! With these 11 gift ideas you definitely won't make a mistake - and almost all of them are also suitable for a baby shower.
1. Delicious, healthy meals – whether home-cooked or bought-in
Clearly in short supply in the first few days and weeks! Even if there is food in the fridge, it can be difficult to prepare more than one crispbread and cheese in peace. At best, the dad can of course take care of this, but he is also happy to have a little break when visitors come. The golden rule: Bring something with you, whether it's a homemade feast or your favorite Thai curry from the restaurant around the corner. We promise, a fresh meal is always good - and healthy nutrition during the postpartum period and while breastfeeding is simply important!
2. Voucher for 1x quiet shower/eat/nap
Win-win: You get to cuddle with the baby and the mom has more than 5 minutes to do something quickly. In the first few weeks you can hardly take a shower without holding your breath because you're convinced you'll hear crying. This doesn't automatically mean that there's another person with the baby, but at least you can block it out - the baby is doing well after all. The same goes for eating in peace, and we don't even have to talk about a nap, right? Perhaps the best gifts for mom when she gives birth don't have to be material!
3. Snacks, snacks, snacks
Breastfeeding makes you hungry, sleep deprivation makes you hungry, and in general, keeping a little person alive makes you hungry! A large snack box with all of your favorite treats is a gift that everyone will probably be happy about - but it is particularly suitable as a gift for breastfeeding mothers for the birth!

4. Löwnenzahn Organics Gift Certificate
But even more important are healthy snacks that not only taste delicious, but also do something good for the body. We developed our Bio Energy Balls for exactly this reason. They support moms with superpower ingredients such as fenugreek and brewer's yeast, which can stimulate the body's own milk production and provide them with iodine and ALA (Omega-3). No mom should have to miss out on healthy food, even when she's short on time or on the go.
Or simply, let mom decide for herself what she needs. Make moms happy with a gift voucher for our Löwenzahn Organics online shop. The voucher worth 25, 50 or 100 EUR/CHF can be used for a whole year until the credit is used up. Click here for the gift voucher .

5. A really good nursing bra that doesn't pinch or squeeze and still makes you feel like a human
What you really can't have enough of when you're breastfeeding? Comfortable nursing bras that can really do something. This one from ooia is an absolute relief. The fabric is the same as the brand's period underwear and leaks are a thing of the past. Likewise: stuffing nursing pads into your bra, which then only gets in the way every time you breastfeed. Of course, not every woman can or wants to breastfeed - but in the first few days after giving birth, the breasts go at least as crazy as the hormones, and a good nursing bra is worth its weight in gold.
PS: The panties from ooia are also just great - for when the postpatum flow has calmed down a bit.
6. All-round survival kit for the postpartum period
Speaking of postpartum flow and all sorts of liquids: A postpartum survival kit such as one from My Clarella or The Female Company not only makes a great gift, but also makes it easier for the new mom to have to buy all the important items herself once sent a man to dm to buy the biggest pads he could find? This can only go wrong!
7. Recover Spray by into life
Absolute (not so) insider tip that the moms in the Löwenzahn team now give to every friend when they give birth. Developed by an amazing midwife who also gives perhaps the most honest birth preparation course (now even online!) and has great products for mom and baby in her range. The Recover Spray is perhaps the absolute best thing you can do for your entire perineal region after a vaginal birth or especially if you have a birth injury. With plant-based active ingredients and no alcohol – aloe vera, witch hazel and yarrow, and of course everything organic! Tip: Also available as a set in a pretty gift basket.
8. The most important things from the pharmacy
Calendula essence from the pharmacy can also work wonders (but it burns more!) and promotes wound healing. Sitz baths are also a real blessing. And to complete the cocktail of great, healing products: Comfrey ointment is the universal ointment that makes every aches and pains (really!) disappear overnight. From birth injuries to sore nipples and any abrasions on both mom and baby - this ointment belongs in every home medicine cabinet!
9. For cesarean section: The cesarean panties
After a cesarean section, you have just undergone a massive surgical procedure - and yet you are often expected to be able to function again straight away. Hardly anyone talks about the pain afterwards. The women behind cesarean panties want to change that and have developed great panties for after a cesarean section. Supportive and with space for a cooling pad over the seam, it offers protection and pain relief. There are also great products for spontaneous births and pregnancy: super comfortable and beautifully supportive.
10. Pampering program for mom
While you probably apply cream to your belly every day during pregnancy, this beautiful ritual can be neglected during the postpartum period. But even then, stressed mommy skin is happy about an extra portion of care! All the better if you have an all-round good feeling about it. After all, as a mom you automatically worry more about the ingredients of all the products that you previously used as a matter of course. That's exactly why our favorite baby care from das boep has developed two great products for moms . With the same natural, good and, above all, few additives that make up baby care, oil and body butter are definitely the right thing for pampering moments in the postpartum period!
11. Last but not least: A great baby nest/baby bouncer
Okay, the last point may actually be more of a classic baby gift - BUT at the same time it is one of the few products that mom will be grateful for above all else. While a baby bouncer becomes really great, especially after a few weeks and you can safely put your baby down to do something, a baby nest is perhaps the best investment of all for the very beginning (up to at least six months!). We particularly liked the Snuggle Me Organic : It hugs your baby and gives him the feeling of being hugged. Made from 100% organic cotton, it is SO the second most perfect place to sleep after mom and dad's arms. The great nest has recently also been available in Germany, for example at Babybox (to try out, but of course also online) or at kyddo .
Needless to say, the greatest gift of all is your little bundle of joy, right? But despite all the joy and pure love, the first few days at home with baby can be challenging - physically and mentally. Good support is the be-all and end-all here - from your midwife, family, and your friends. All the better that they now have a practical checklist at hand on how they can really make you happy with their gifts - and not just more work!
Oh, and of course you're not the only mom who's faced with situations during the postpartum period that you didn't see coming. In our postpartum category we tell you about 12 things no one told you before about postpartum . Another note: sex after birth can still wait.
